Art Lynch Acting Studios / Lynch Coaching / Acting Classes LV
(Note this advice below applies no mater where you live...find a coach, work on in your "actors' gym" with friends and classmates. bring your best game go class and treat it as an audition or as you would on the set. Focus, use your time to learn, grow, stretch. You can just sit at the gym and say you "went to the gym" or you can work out. Which one provides results?
Bring your whole package as an actor...
by Jen Rudolph
Very important post here:
Loungers, I cannot stress to you how important it is to have the whole package as an actor. You can be in the most prestigious scene study class but without "in the room"/on-camera audition technique/working with casting directors in a workshop
environment experience to go along with it...99% of the time you are doing yourself a grave disservice. Think of it this way...if you go to Harvard Medical School and study to be a doctor but never do a residency...how on earth will you know what to do if called in to action? The same is true in our business.
There are no shortcuts.
Just recently, a very well known casting director called in several AGRtists for auditions for a HUGE episodic. 99% of these artists let their nerves get the best of them. Most of them are working in some capacity (either on themselves at C.R.E.A.T.E. or via their own internal process or on their craft) but aren't actually getting into the room on the regular to work with CD's in a way that emulates what happens in the audition room. I can only truly go to bat for you when you truly go to bat for yourselves. It doesn't matter how much I suggest you or push for you...if you don't have the goods when you get into the room it's moot. You MUST know how to behave with a CD. You MUST have your ducks in a row.
You MUST bring your A-Game.
This is not a dress rehearsal. :)
