I do not understand so-called or self-proclaimed actors who say "I'm not interested in theater" or who limit themselves by only envisioning themselves doing film.
Most professional actors I know, have worked with or who you may think of as "stars" do theater when they can, both on and off Broadway.
There is a reason.
Live audiences, deep characters, interaction in real time with other actors, social life, chance to experiment and in general have fun. I have been a part of some very professional and rewarding community theater, as well as helping kids by being the adult in children's theater productions.
It's a way to tune your instrument. It's a way to hone your acting skills. And it is fun!
